Homeless Drug Addict Gets Amazing Transformation After His Childhood Friend Rescued Him

His story proves that kindness can change people for good.

If you have ever seen Patrick Hinga several years ago, you definitely wouldn’t recognize him now. He was once a homeless man in the town of Wangige, Kenya. He survived by begging for money and eating decayed food. He was also addicted to drugs.

Fortunately, he was rescued by a former classmate who saw him on the streets. Now everyone is just amazed at his inspiring transformation story!

Patrick Hinga was once a homeless drug addict until Wanja Mwaura recognized him.

Perhaps not surprisingly, his before and after photos went viral on social media as many people have felt touched by his story. In fact, it didn’t take long for local and international media to take notice.

She helped him by taking him to a local rehabilitation center.

This was after spending the past 13 years on the streets.

According to Hinga, he began doing drugs when he was still a student.

He admitted:

“It all began with cigarettes. Before we knew it, we were smoking Bhang. I gave in to drugs because of peer pressure.”

When the teachers found out about his addiction, he was expelled. He later enrolled at another high school but dropped out soon after. After struggling to control his addiction, his mother brought him to Mathari Mental Hospital but he escaped from the facility several times. That’s the time he ran away and began living in the streets.

And it definitely wasn’t easy for him.

Hinga said:

“What pained me the most was that my siblings were at home with my mother, safe and sound, yet I was in the streets and that was really depressing for me.”

Luckily, his life turned around – thanks to a concerned former classmate.

Now he looks like a completely different person!

After months in rehab, money was raised so he can have a small business “Hinga’s Store,” which is now being managed by his mother – who is extremely happy her son finally cleaned up his act.

Patrick Hinga’s story proves that it’s never too late for some people to change.

“I feel like I am a new man. I pray daily, asking God to deliver me so that I am not pulled back to that life of drugs.”
