It's a work of art---out of love.
Back in the old days, expectant mothers like to film themselves when they want to convey some important messages or simply document precious moments while their babies are still in utero.
You see, many things could happen to your parents from the time before you were born up to when you’re older. So, for some parents, creating a memento at that particular period could help them remind their child in the future that no matter what happens, they love them and they want what’s best for them.
This proud and excited couple thought of a unique way of conveying their messages. Simon Schaffrath and his wife decided to take extraordinary pictures for their soon-to-be-born child.
Using his wife as his canvas, what this photographer from Germany did was nothing short of amazing.
My wife and I will have our first baby in November. We are very happy about this, so we decided to make some special and creative photos. His name will be “Theodor” and each picture has its own message.
I worked on every photo for one week. We took the photos on Sundays, then I retouched them with Photoshop till Wednesdays and after that I planned the next shoot. Modelling was great fun for both of us – of course we only used non-toxic and skin-tolerant products and materials, such as paste.
Fun fact: while shooting, Theo often kicked mom’s belly, so the paste got some cracks and we had to repair the landscape all the time. In the meantime, the photos are framed and embellish Theodor’s bedroom and all we can do now, is wait for him.
Times have changed indeed. Some parents don’t resort to DVDs and old fashioned tape recorders anymore. Parents are getting more and more creative, but their words of wisdom all mean one thing: love.
