Dad Takes Funny Photos of His Premature Baby Doing “Manly Things”

By medical definition, a baby delivered before 37 weeks is considered premature. As such, they, particularly those born very early, usually have complicated medical concerns.

One father learned this from experience but despite the worries, he and his wife managed to look at the bright side of the situation – by taking funny pictures of their baby.

In a BoredPanda feature, Matt Mac wrote:

“Our son Ryan was born 9 weeks premature weighing just under 3 lbs. He spent 6 weeks in the NICU and it seemed to last forever… Although things didn’t go according to plan we didn’t let it slow us down. We joked that he wasn’t premature just ‘advanced’ – so I came up with the idea that we should do a photoshoot of him doing manly adult things.”

The results of their efforts have since made a huge impact on netizens as many labeled the photo series as both hilarious and heartwarming. It likewise captured the attention of many major websites.

According to the awesome dad, each shoot took around 15 to 20 minutes to capture and then the rest of the work went to setting up the shoot (preparing the props, outfits, lighting, etc) and adding some Photoshop magic.

So yes, to clarify the obvious, none of the ‘dangers’ are real.

“My wife often helped out by holding him so I could put his hands/arms/legs in certain positions, holding things,” said Matt. “After I got the pictures of Ryan, I would take some shots of anything that he couldn’t actually hold, like the ax swinging or the fish on the fishing line.”

Meanwhile, Matt tells us baby Ryan is now 6.months old and “finally on the growth chart.”

As for fellow parents of preemie babies, he says he has “three pieces of advice” namely “be patient, be positive, and seek support.”
