Is he the next Usain Bolt?
Several months ago, LeBron James posted a clip of Rudolph “Blaze” Ingram Jr. playing football and it quickly went viral. Now, the seven-year-old breaks a USA Track and Field record over the weekend.
The young boy took the internet by storm yet again after a video was posted online oh him completing a 100-meter sprint in 13.48 seconds. Blaze is often being compared to Usain Bolt, a Jamaican sprinter who is currently holding the title of 9.58 seconds.
Blaze began training for track when he was only four years old. His talent for the sport was quickly confirmed when he set the U.S record for his age group. Last summer, he won the 100 and then finished second in the 200 in his age group at the Amateur Athletic Union championships.
The young athlete has won 36 medals including 20 golds.
But Blaze is not just a Track and Field superstar. He is also using his speed on the football field.
He said:
“I work hard at practice to set the bar high for my teammates. I want to show them we need to give it all we’ve got. If they don’t know how to do something, I show them how to do it. I always tell them ‘You practice how you play.’”
Dad Rudolph Ingram Sr. said in an interview that he’s a huge supporter of his son, In fact, he had never missed a game.
Blaze’s dad noted that if his son will change lane someday, he will always support him matter what.
He said:
“What’s next? Rocket scientist? Let’s go. It doesn’t matter what it is. I’m behind him. Nobody sees the tree grow. All they see is when it’s big and beautiful. They don’t see it when it’s just a seed — when you’re watering it. You got to stay behind your child and constantly support them and water them. They’ll eventually grow to be something.”
While Blaze is quickly garnering a lot of followers all around the world, no one is looking up to him more than his four-year-old brother, who he regularly features on his Instagram.
