Scientific Evidence that “Happy Wife, Happy Life” is True!

Marriage is full of mysteries – it’s practically impossible to know what it takes to make a marriage happy. And if you’re married, you’d do whatever you can to ensure that it’s a happy one or else your life will be miserable, right? Apparently, all you really need to work on is making your wife happy, and the rest kind of just falls into place…

A man can be unhappy with his marriage but happy with his life, given that his wife is happy with the marriage. According to Deborah Carr, a sociology professor at the University of Rutgers, “A wife’s happiness in a marriage has the power to overtake a husband’s marital unhappiness to make his overall life quite pleasant.” All of this data is consistent with a report published in the Journal of Marriage and Family.

Your wife’s happiness is directly related to how happy your life will be!

Despite the report, some scientists were still doubtful. To strengthen the evidence, the University of Michigan conducted a one-on-one survey in 1,800 houses to interview different couples. Their sample population consisted of couples wherein one spouse is at least 50 years old, and the other is about 60 years old or more.

According to the survey, husbands who rated their marriage as “1” who had wives who rated their marriage as “4” were overall happier with their lives. On the contrary, households where both the husband and wife rated their marriage as “1” led unhappier lives.Even more interesting is that when the wives are unsatisfied, them men were also unsatisfied both in life and in the marriage.

One possible explanation for this is that if a woman is happy in a relationship, she’d be more willing to provide care and support for her husband, thus enriching a man’s life and making it happier.

So for all the men out there, do what you can to ensure that both you and your wife are happy in your marriage. But if you can’t find joy and satisfaction in your marriage, at least try to make your wife happy!
