North Korea is one of the world's most secretive countries, yet they let these pictures of their military arms out in the open.
North Korea’s military equipment may seem to belong to the 1970s Soviet army, but the country’s massive army could still prove formidable and should not be underestimated.
For instance, North Korea’s missile development facility and colossal stocks of artillery look powerful and might easily slay South Korea and the rest of the world.
These powerful missiles are capable of hitting Japan.
The US Pentagon’s most recent report on the state of the North Korean military sizes up the country’s ground forces, navy, and air force. Some of North Korea’s systems, like the 240mm multiple rocket launchers in the photo below have the capacity to hit Seoul, the south’s capital.
The largest part of North Korea’s military is the Korean People’s Army Ground Force, which has over 1 million active personnel. According to Business Insider, there are a million civilians considered as reserves.
Although North Korea has plenty of ground forces, most of its equipment are outdated, pulled from the Soviet period, and copies manufactured by either North Korea or China.
Noticeably, the air force has semi-modern fighter jets, such as this MiG-29 above where Kim Jong-un is seated.
One of the most badass arsenal North Korea has is its powerful artillery that remains traditional yet reliable.
Despite being old, North Korea’s submarine force is one of the largest in the whole world.
Pokpung-ho battle tanks were built more than 20 years ago, but they are still the most advanced equipment operated by the ground forces today.
Last but not the least, is the Taepodong-2, a three-stage ballistic missile closely monitored by the United States. Little is known about NoKor’s nuclear capability, particularly its controversial and ambitious nuclear program. Analysts believe the rogue state possesses enough weapons-grade plutonium but it does not have the means yet to deliver it via missiles.
North Korea is one of the world’s most secretive countries, yet they let these pictures of their military arms out in the open. Some people say it’s a propaganda. Some people say it’s a threat. We don’t really know for sure.
