"You are going to jail!"
This has got to be the most absurd reason for getting in trouble with law enforcers. A black guy has been arrested by the police on a train platform. What was his fault, you ask? Well we was, as it turns out, eating a sandwich.
In a short footage that has since gone viral on social media, we learn that Steve Foster ended up getting handcuffed in a San Francisco, California train station. A police officer told him eating was “against the law” in the paid area of the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) as he held Foster’s backpack.
The cop eventually told him he’s “going to jail” and he continued resisting, insisting he “didn’t do anything wrong” and was just having a “f****ng sandwich.” Eventually, three additional officers helped the first cop to handcuff Foster. He was given a citation but not brought to the jail.
In a media interview, Alicia Trost, representative of BART, sided with the authorities pointing out that Foster wasn’t “cooperative” and refused to “provide his identification.” Meanwhile, a statement from BART also mentioned that “eating (is) a violation of state law.”
Some netizens commented that the police clearly “abused their power” in handling the case while others believe it was “discrimination” that motivated them to do what they did.
