11 Simple Habits That Help You Live Longer

Apparently, there are habits that you can learn to add a few more decades to your life.

There is no doubt that every single one of us here in this world wants to live longer. Otherwise, we would not be interested in anti-aging products or health supplements, among others. In fact, even scientists continue to find and discover tons of amazing features of human DNA. This basically helps them understand the road to living longer.

Interestingly, there are tons of ways for you to achieve such. It does not mean you are going to be immortal, though. At least, some years will be added to your age. To get you started, below are ideas obtained from scientific research – and they all can teach you how to live happier and longer lives.

#1. Eat More Homemade Food

As much as possible, veer away from fast food meals, sweets, and snacks. They are just harmful to your body. The best and healthiest way to fuel your body is by eating homemade food.

#2. Instead of Coffee, Go for Green Tea

If you want to keep your brain and heart strong, then go for green tea. Lessen your caffeine intake. Although caffeine is present in tea, it still has minerals and antioxidants that are good for your body.

#3. More Fish, Less Meat

Ah, meat. We are all guilty of eating too much of this. Truth is, eating meat only increases your chances of acquiring different health problems. It is best to opt for fish and seafood, which are both rich in amino acids. They can even lower the risk of getting Alzheimer’s disease.

#4. Visit Your Friends More Often

Believe it or not, your friends can actually help you live longer. That is because communication is quite useful for the brain. You do not have to do it regularly. Just try to spend your time wisely. You can try attending festivals or traveling.

#5. Undergo 150 Minutes of Sports Each Week

Sports like basketball and volleyball can keep you in good shape. You can also resort to 30-40 minutes of exercise every 2 days (if you cannot do it on a regular basis). Try walking or yoga, as these are proven to be good for the heart.

#8. Meditate for at least 10-15 Minutes a Day

#9. Sleep for at least 6 Hours a Day

We are probably fun of staying up late at night, binge-watching our favorite shows. Apparently, though, it is bad habit. Lack of sleep can lead to serious consequences. If you cannot ensure a healthy hour-span of sleep (8 hours), go for 6 hours. It is already enough to restore energy and stabilize the nervous system.

#10. Continue to Work Even After 70

Yes, you read that right. As much as possible, be busy even after 70. It keeps your brain and body in shape. It even helps you realize your own worth and value. More importantly, it supports social communication.

#11. Ensure a Happy Marriage

It is true that having a partner can make you live longer, but it is only possible if there is love. Also, you must continue to have mutual respect with your significant other. Remember: An unhappy marriage can make your life 10 years shorter.
