Student Regrets Joining Spring Break Party After 72 Of Them Contracts COVID-19

"Life is precious...Don't be arrogant and think you're invincible like myself".

  • After defying the warning and partying during the spring break, several students from University of Tampa, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and other colleges (including Florida, Alabama, and Tennessee) have contracted the dreaded coronavirus (COVID-19).
  • “Life is precious…Don’t be arrogant and think you’re invincible like myself,” Brady Sluder of Ohio, regretting the time he went partying amidst the outbreak.
  • Cases of coronavirus in the United States have increased exponentially among Americans between ages 20 to 40 years old.

“If I get corona, I get corona.” Remember this statement from Brady Sluder of Ohio? He ended up apologizing about his insensitive comment and expressed regret after spring breakers in Florida eventually tested positive of the dreaded coronavirus (COVID-19). Sluder was quoted saying firmly the he would not let a global pandemic stop him from partying after his friends planned their trip to Florida for three months.

However, in a report, Sluder later expressed his regret from saying that and from attending the party which was attended by thousands of college students from several universities in the United States, resulting to some contracting the disease.

“Life is precious…Don’t be arrogant and think you’re invincible like myself,” Sluder wrote in Instagram, apologizing to the public.

He admitted he was not aware of the “severity” of his actions and comments, and he is owning up to his mistake.

Luder was one of the spring breakers who shrugged off the severity of the the pandemic. Their decision to defy orders to stay home and observe social distancing drew widespread criticism.

Reports stated that dozens of spring breakers who have returned to their college towns in Texas, Florida, and Wisconsin, manifested coronavirus symptoms and tested positive of it. This was despite reports that COVID-19 has little to no effect on younger people and would only infect the elderly and those with underlying illnesses.

In University of Texas, 44 out of 70 students tested positive after flying on a chartered plane to attend the spring break party in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Reports stated that they are now under self-isolation and authorities are tracing all other students they had contact with.

Meanwhile, there were at least five spring breakers from the University of Tampa who also contracted the illness. The virus also did not spare students from the University of Wisconsin who partied in Nashville and Gulf Shores, Alabama.

So far, 72 students tested positive of the disease because of the spring parties, the Texas Tribune reported.

As of this writing, the United States’ cases of coronavirus have skyrocketed to 390,387 confirmed cases with a death toll of 12,474.

The National Post also reported that in Travis County, Texas, hospital admissions for coronavirus had numerous cases for those ages 20 to 40. Young americans, the report stated “have accounted for a significant number of coronavirus hospitalizations nationwide”.

“The virus often hides in the healthy and is given to those who are at grave risk of being hospitalized or dying. While younger people have less risk for complications, they are not immune from severe illness and death from COVID-19,” said Austin-Travis County Interim Health Authority director Mark Escott.
