The United States and South Korea has successfully conducted bombing drills along the military field in eastern South Korea, giving looming fears among people that a miscalculation could lead to a real fighting.

In a statement, the U.S. Pacific Air Forces Commander General Terrence O’Shaughnessy said the bombing exercises were conducted as their direct response against North Korea’s previous missile launches.

“North Korea’s actions are a threat to our allies, partners and homeland, and their destabilizing actions will be meg accordingly,” O’Shaughnessy said.

The B-1Bs were flown in from Andersen Air Force Base in Guam while the F-35B stealth fighter jets joined four South Korean F-15 fighters.

The bombing took 10-hours to complete its drill, the American B-1Bs, F-35Bs, and two Japanese F-15 fighters first flew together over waters near Kyushu, Japan.

O’Shaughnessy said the U.S. and South Korean warplanes flew across the Korean Peninsula and participated the live-fire exercises before returning to their respective bases.

“This complex mission clearly demonstrates our solidarity with our allies and underscores the broadening cooperation to defend against this common threat,” the commander said.

He noted that if the need arises, its "forward-deployed force" will be the first in line to the fight.

“(It is) ready to deliver a lethal response at a moment’s notice if our nation calls,” he added.

Traditionally, the United States often deploys its warplanes to South Korea, mostly for patrols, when animosity rises in the Korean Peninsula.

Recently, North Korea has launched a potentially-nuclear capable Hwasong-12 intermediate range missile over northern Japan, describing such action as a “meaningful prelude” to containing the U.S. territory of Guam.

The move is also a message by Pyongyang’s leader Kim Jong-Un opposing U.S.-South Korean war games, threatening that North Korea will launch more ballistic missile in the Pacific Ocean.

The last time a North Korean rocket overflew Japan was in 2009, when Pyongyang said it was a satellite launch.

Washington, Seoul and Tokyo believed it was a clandestine test of an intercontinental ballistic missile.

In July, Pyongyang carried out two overt ICBM tests that appeared to bring much of the US mainland within reach for the first time and heightened strains in the region.

The North Korean missile launch was made after U.S. President Donald Trump called the North Korean government an “absolute nonsense” and claiming that “only absolute force can work on him (Trump)”.

Trump also warned that the US would respond to more North Korean threats with “fire and fury” unlike the world had ever seen.
