Restaurant Manager Denied Service to a War Vet and His K9 Just Before Memorial Day!

It’s difficult to understand the challenges a soldier has to face every day after being exposed to the dangers and the horrors of war. Not unless you’ve actually been there and have experienced what they’ve experienced first hand. Because despite their rigorous training, I don’t think anyone is really ever prepared to die or to take another man’s life.

To wake up every morning not knowing if it’ll be your last or if you’ll still be able to come home alive and in one piece? Imagine living your life like that every day.

Soldiers have to fight their inner fears and loneliness to protect our nation.  They selflessly do that so we can all sleep soundly at night knowing that there are no hostiles trying to take away our rights and our freedom. For all the sacrifices these soldiers have done for us, the least we can do is to honor and support them, particularly those who have been physically, emotionally, and psychologically scarred by war.

Like war veteran Garett Loughran who suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) after serving four tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. He is having difficulties coping up with the outside world and needs the help and support of the people around him.

Fortunately, there are smart, gentle, and highly trained K9s who can help war veterans cope with such conditions. These service dogs know how to calm their masters whenever they’re in a crowded place. That’s why they have to accompany the war vets wherever and whenever. Such dogs can enter any establishment with their masters—no questions asked—and they have the papers to support that.

As a pre-Memorial Day treat, Garett’s mom wanted to have lunch with her son so she took them to a local Houlihan’s. Unfortunately, things didn’t go exactly as planned. The manager refused to let Garett enter the premises with his dog, and she even asked what type of service Hershey provides— an unethical question that no one has the right to plainly ask.

Houlihan’s issued an apology letter to Garett’s family for the way the manager behaved. They also pledged to donate $2000 for “Pets for Vets”, an organization that provides highly trained K9s to war veterans who need help.

The manager was already fired from her job.
