We all know that cleaning can be a daunting task. Just imagine the feeling of having spent your whole day cleaning, only to find your house as messy as it was when you first started – just a few hours later.

Now, don’t fret. Experts have given us a cheat sheet on what to clean and how often you need to clean it.

Everyday

When it comes to cleaning your home, you dont have to do every single task everyday. Doing so will just be useless especially when you dont have a cleaning plan. Start a list, and make sure these chores are in your everyday to-clean list:

  1. Wash dishes
  2. Wipe kitchen counters
  3. Clean out stove spills
  4. Empty trash (when needed)
  5. Put things away after using them
  6. Squeegee showers after using to prevent mildew for accumulating.
  7. Make bed
  8. Put away clutters in the bedroom
Twice A Week

Once you start a habit of clening up after you go, youll notice that the mess in your house are really brought about by the little things that you could have done in less than 5 minutes, but you chose to ignore. These clutters do tend to accumulate. Set 1-2 days every week for your weekly cleaning and do these:

  1. Dust your hardwood floors so it wont get scratched with the dirt.
  2. Put away the excess clutter that escaped your everyday cleaning.
  3. Vaccuum under furniture.
Once a Month

Set a date, preferably the same day as your weekly cleaning. For example, every last Saturday of the month or so. Here are some chores to do once a month:

  1. Vaccuum or wipe blinds and baseboards.
  2. Sweep your outdoor spaces like walkways, patio, and garage.
  3. Vaccuum upholstered furniture.
  4. Wash your throw rugs.
  5. Dust your ceiling fans.
  6. Clean ceiling fixtures per room. Rotate the rooms every month.
Every 3 Months

For the quarterly chores, do these:

  1. Polish your wood furniture.
  2. Remove cobwebs that formed from stairwells, ceilings, and such.
  3. Clean air conditioner filters.
  4. Clean furnace.
  5. Clean oven.
Every 6 Months

There are chores that you can put off every six months. These are the following:

  1. Wash windows.
  2. Declutter garage and storage areas.
  3. Vaccuum and rotate/flip you mattresses.
  4. Polish silvers.
  5. Air out pillows.
Once a Year

And then there are the chores that can be done once a year. These are the ones that are too tedious to be done more frequently. These are:

  1. Clean the bottom of the heavy furniture.
  2. Clean carpets and drapes.
  3. Turn your rugs to even out tear.
  4. Wash walls.
  5. Clean chandeliers.
  6. Vaccuum rugs and the back of rugs.
