Overweight Couple Gets Married The Second Time After Losing 196 Pounds Together
Although most couples look back to their wedding memories with fondness, William and Janice Robertson wanted to get married again and take new photos. The reason, of course, is that they are very much different persons now compared to the first time they tied the knot.
You see, the husband and wife from Dunfermline, Fife were formerly obese but they have since worked out to lose weight together. The change is so drastic that they’d be a bit hard to recognize if you contrast the then and now.
When they were first married, both William and Janice loved junk food and didn’t have time for exercise.
“We knew we were both overweight but we were so in love that neither of us cared.” confessed Janice.
However, this led to a problem when the bride “could only fit into a size-22 wedding dress,” reported Unilad.
She struggled to find “anything that would fit” and so instead of being happy during the wedding day, she felt miserable and uncomfortable.
Eventually, the couple came to realize the importance of good health after William was diagnosed with diabetes.
They then decided to change their unhealthy habits for good. The two joined a local slimmer’s group and worked extra hard. In fact, they lost some 196 pounds together!
Janice enthusiastically shared:
“We are best friends and we do everything together. We both decided to lose weight. It was so much better because it became a bit of a competition.”
It was at that point when William felt they had to renew their vows – this time as fitter, healthier individuals.
As Janice said:
“We were looking through our old wedding photographs and William said we had to get married again, now that we had lost all of the weight.
“I was unsure at first because my late father was at our first wedding but after speaking to my family they convinced me that he would be really proud.”
This time around, Janice couldn’t be any happier!
Janice added:
“When we first got married, it wasn’t enjoyable. I was a size 22 and none of the dresses fitted me. I was sad about how I looked in them.
“But when I went dress shopping for the second time it was amazing.
“I was trying on size 12 dresses and I could practically try on every dress in the store. When I saw myself I burst into tears.”
Love can indeed conquer all. Congratulations on your second wedding (and healthier bodies), William and Janice!
