The woman claimed to have spotted Bigfoot recently, but no one would believe her.
There have been numerous stories about Bigfoot sightings, but somehow the popular American folklore creature remains a myth. That’s not to say no one will fight to prove that Bigfoot or Sasquatch does exist.
One San Bernardino County, California resident named Claudia Ackley is just one of the many people who claimed to have seen Bigfoot. But since authorities did not believe Ackley’s story about her recent encounter with the mysterious creature, she decided to sue the state’s Department of Fish and Wildlife for not recognizing Sasquatch as a species.
The Bigfoot enthusiast told the Press-Enterprise that she had a close encounter with the creature.
“I ran into a Sasquatch – a Bigfoot. We were face to face. He was 30 feet up in the tree.”
Ackley, who’s a Bigfoot researcher for more than 20 years, went on to describe that the creature “looked like a neanderthal man.” He was covered with hair and he had “solid black eyes.” He also had an expressionless look on his face and just stared at the three hikers.
Ackley’s youngest daughter, aged 11, also captured a video of the sighting and when Ackley took a look at it, she was convinced that it was, indeed, Bigfoot she saw that day. Ackley then decided to call authorities to report the sighting. However, her claims were dismissed and she was told that maybe what they saw was a bear. When she realized that she can’t get the forest rangers to believe her story, she then contacted Todd Standing, the man behind the Netflix documentary, “Discovering Bigfoot.” Standing then helped Ackley in filing a lawsuit.
In the court documents filed on Jan. 18, Ackley stated that the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, along with the Natural Resources Agency, failed to do their jobs of protecting Bigfoot territory and doing research on the creature. Not only that, Ackley said that by dismissing claims and sightings of Bigfoot, the agencies have damaged her reputation and livelihood. They also destroyed the credibility of researchers who devote to studying the creature.
Ackley also believes that the state should recognize Bigfoot as a species so that people will be aware that it exists. By not acknowledging the creature’s existence, the state is putting the residents’ lives at risk, she added.
