“I would never wish this on my worst enemy."
For many years, a lot of women have been plucking their eyebrows to make them look thin and perfect. Then Cara Delevingne came along and made the whole “bushy” thing happen again. So we spent years trying to grow them back but found out we couldn’t reverse the years of damage.
With thicker eyebrows being the “in” thing at the moment, people are turning to microblading to achieve the look. Microblading is a semi-permanent tattoo treatment. This can be a risky option because there is a high chance that it could go wrong, just like one Missouri woman.
Jami Ledbetter was not one of those over-pluckers since she had nothing to pluck. You see, the 42-year-old mom was born with no eyebrows, so she was pretty excited when her three daughters dropped $250 for a microblading voucher from Groupon to help frame her face with a nice new pair of eyebrows.
Unfortunately, the end result was not what she expected. Instead of fulfilling a dream, it turned out to be a total nightmare.
That’s because the woman performing the microblading procedure was unlicensed and ended up putting four eyebrows on Jami’s face, instead of the desired two.
She said:
“I would never wish this on my worst enemy. What it’s done to my self-confidence, it’s been hard. I was devastated. I was even dating a guy, and he stopped dating me at that point.”
Luckily, Jami was able to fix her botched eyebrows. Kara Gutierrez, a licensed tattoo artist who owns the salon Spot On Beauty in Lee’s Summit corrected the issue. Kara specializes in tattoo removal and the process took “months,” costing Jami more than $1,000.
Jami has to undergo the treatment at eight-week intervals and has around three more treatments before the brows will be back to normal.
