So is the customer always right?
Part of maintaining a work-life balance is to stop entertaining work-related inquiries after business hours. Anyone has the right to do such. But does a person have the right to become rude to a customer for making such inquiry?
Evandra, who is the CEO of EMC Cosmetics and also working as an interior architectural designer, sent a text message to a contractor asking for a quote about carpets. She sent the message past midnignt, which is beyond the working hours of the contractor.
The contractor must have been really pissed, because he replied: “Who the f*** asks for carpets at 12:15 am?”
Evandra shared their exchange on Twitter with the caption: “Loooll??? But what in the name of customer service have I just experienced.”
Now the contractor has the right to feel annoyed at the potential customer for apparently disturbing him outside business hours…right?
It’s a burning question about the matter that sparked a debate on Twitter. Some are taking the contractor’s side, saying that Evanda should have respected the contractor’s business hours.
But there are also people who defended the customer, saying that Evanda has the right to make an inquiry whenever she wants.
Also, there are people who pointed out that technology has features that will keep you from being disturbed.
The debate got so heated that Evandra actually posted a poll to settle who is right and wrong once and for all.
The issue also revealed that customer service that allows you to talk back to the customer is becoming a thing.
It appears to be a stalemate. So which side are you on?
