One thing I love about using the internet is having that “lightbulb moment” when I discover some really helpful information. That’s why I’m often surfing the web, bouncing from one site to another, so I can find valuable hacks I can try to make life easier and, in most cases, allow me to save time and money.

For these same reasons, I became an instant fan of Yumi Sakugawa, a comic book illustrator based in Southern California who frequently uploads practical tips and tricks on the website WonderHowTo using accessible art and simple text.

Yumi’s stuff is simply phenomenal! Check out the cool hacks below:

6 Clever Ways to Hide Your Spare Keys Outdoors

Some of us sometimes have to leave a spare key for a family member or maybe for ourselves, in case you’d want to avoid locking yourself out of the house.

According to Yumi:

“The worst thing you can do is to hide your spare key in an obvious spot, like under the doormat, under a planter, or anywhere near the front door.”

Here’s how Yumi does it instead:

Yumi adds:

“For a more DIY, crafty approach to hiding keys, you can create a decoy hiding place out of a real rock, super glue, and a prescription pill bottle. Simply glue the rock on top of the cap of a prescription bottle, place the key inside the bottle and bury it underground so that only the rock is sticking out.”

6 DIY Ideas for Keeping Your Earbuds Tangle-Free When Transporting

Earbuds may be nice travel buddies but frankly, they can be quite annoying too. Ever noticed how they often get easily tangled? Well, you can use some household items to prevent that problem.

As Yumi shared:

“For a super-easy solution, simply place your earbud cords in a prescription bottle, a travel-sized Q-tip container, or an empty Altoid tin. You can also wrap and secure your earbuds with a binder clip, or cut up an old credit card or expired gift card to make your own DIY earbud holder.”
